One of the objectives of Quantum Spain is to consolidate a Spanish research community with the technical, training and support resources needed to grow rapidly in quantum computing. One of the ways to achieve this, which is already a reality today, is the deployment of technicians specialised in this area. So far, 12 professionals have joined the project, representing each node of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES).
One of the main tasks of the support technicians is to assist users once they want to access the quantum computer or one of the classical simulators. At this point, the idea is that each interested institution/company will have a trained person who can assist them in adapting their algorithm to the experimental specifications or put them in contact with the algorithmic technical groups.
In addition to the technicians’ prior knowledge, they will receive regular training on advances in quantum computing, for example, through the TalentQ programme.
We introduce you to Spain’s first generation of support technicians here.
